I only did 4 years active duty, some 30 years ago, but I had the definite impression you needed 20 then.

I was, however, in the reserves for a long time after that, until 1994, and can state as a fact that, to get the reserve pension at age 60, you need to have done 20 years total, active and reserve, unless there is a specific program for early retirements at the time you retire.
