I've never been in the position of accepting reward money for providing crimestopper tips, so I have no idea what I;d really do. But I've always thought that if I did have evidence of a crime, I'd provide it and decline the reward. I don't see why a law-abiding citizen should need money as an incentive to thwart criminal acts.

Bingo.

Reward money is usually to entice the non-law abiding citizens who know the perp to stab him in the back by talking to the cops.
