In 1994, the Brady Bill outlawed flash suppressors on automatic weapons.

Lie - it was for the newly-defined category of "assault weapons," which the gun grabbers wish to intentionally confuse with automatic weapons.

And according to Brenda Duety, the president of Don’s Guns, it is not difficult to buy flash suppressors illegally at gun shows.

False: There is nothing illegal about flash suppressors, only about attaching them to post-ban weapons. Felons may even legally own flash suppressors, so long as they own no weapons. This statement is merely added to convince the sheeple that gun shows are places rife with the possibility of criminal actions, which therefore need additional regulation.

Oh crap, here it comes. I love the jab at gun shows selling the evil flash hider, which isn't illegal unless you put it on your post-ban gun.

I have been putting off getting a AR. I guess I better not put it off much longer. This will probably drive the price up worse then Y2K.

Why would a gun dealer say this? Even if true, why add to the anti-gun hysteria?

The Bushmaster is a knockoff of the Colt AR-15, which is the gun actually used by the U.S. military.

Since when did the U.S. Military start using AR-15s?

Sources tell CBS News that the gun recovered from the trunk was a Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle, .223 caliber, model A-35, xm15-e2s, serial number l-166036

Sources? With information as specific as the serial number, they darn well ought to be saying who these "sources" are.

The Communist News Network reported that the AR-15/XM-15 has the same functions and capabilites as the M-16. I guess they never heard of full auto or burst fire. Why am I not surprised. Not to mention a bayonet lug and flash suppressor if this was a post ban gun.

Even though this wacko was clearly motivated by the "Religion of Peace", it will be non-criminal citizens who take it in the .... well you know. K.K.T, Snake Schumner, Fienstein and her sidekick Boxer will be in full bray. I just hope the gun was bought through a dealer, and after the background checks and assault weapon ban, so that at least gun rights activists can point to how useless such laws really are. Although, when a gun control law doesn't control the illegal use of firearms, the answer is not to repeal the law, but rather to pass another one. Madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

“Anybody that had that gun sitting on a tripod, with a scope, be it you, your wife, anyone, could take that gun and hit something 500 yards away.

He doesn't want to make a bet on that. Not with me doing the shooting. Sounds to me like he's trying to make a sale.

One shot?

Sniper quality?

What a joke!

I can hit a target 2" square at 250 yards with a 30-30 Accelerator. One shot.

There's nothing special about using a semi-auto to pop off one round. Almost any bolt action or lever action could achieve the same results.

Ditto. Better buy AR15 type rifle soon, if you always wanted one. I never cared much for the plastic fantasic, kinda a girly rifle. Mine are all big bore with real wood stocks. That's about to change.

My Bushie has open sights, and, while a fairly accurate rifle, is hardly a target class weapon. And the .223 round is certainly effective against small and medium game, but it is not some Doomsday round.

Sources say the gun had a flash suppressor on it. This device hides the muzzle flash when the gun is fired, making it difficult to detect where the shot originated. In 1994, the Brady Bill outlawed flash suppressors on automatic weapons. But thousands of Bushmasters manufactured before then had flash suppressors. And according to Brenda Duety, the president of Don’s Guns, it is not difficult to buy flash suppressors illegally at gun shows.

I believe the bill outlawed the use of a flash suppressor or hider on assault style guns made after a certain date, as long as these guns already have a protruding pistol grip and can accept large capacity detachable magazines. Other no-no's are collapsable stock and bayonet lug. So you CAN have two of the five, except I think the collapsable stock is pre-ban or Law Enforcement Only.

Supressors or replacements could be fitted to guns assembeled before that date. So thwy are not by themselves illegal. A few "post ban" guns are sold with an ATF approved muzzle break, which I believe can't be removed from the barrel. Of course, crooks don't follow the law...

Bushmaster Is Popular, Deadly

Uh-huh . . . As opposed to RATS being unpopular, deadly. (John Mohammed IS a RAT . . . He never voted for Ronald Reagan, that's for sure.)

This is what we conservatives must drive home to voters at large, hard (especially in the face of this kind of relentless anti-gun campaigning by RAT-run media organizations like CBS), to wit: Most murderers (perhaps 90% or more) are democrats or, certainly, strongly agree with them. Same with carjackers, robbers and thieves.

And guess what? Common-political RATS want to free these common-criminal RATS and give them lenient sentences . . . DUH!

RATS are dangerous. More so than guns, because they use every kind of weapon, not just guns. Yes, a Bushmaster was used in these killings. But a RAT pulled the trigger. RATS are more dangerous than guns by a long shot (because RATS use every weapon imaginable to commit their murders, in addition to being responsible for most gun murders), and therefore, RATS should be registered, controlled, and put under lock and key.

Control RATS, not guns!

We MUST drive this message home. It's a winner and it would give RATS fits. Because they cannot deny the simple facts that everyone can understand.

Remember the Willie Horton ad Bush Sr. took so much heat for? Well, we need a helluva lot more ads like that. Only this time, don't just concentrate on black democrat repeat murderers and rapists like Horton, but put up pics of murderous, thieving RATS of every age, shape and color, concentrating on the most heinous. There are tens of thousands of them.

Of course, none of this is going to do us any good at all if we don't get a handle on rampant democrat voter fraud. Dubya could issue an executive order on election day and put National Guardsmen in every polling place in the country, checking for picture IDs. The RATS would scream. But so what? We'd trounce 'em and take both Houses of Congress.

In 1994, the Brady Bill outlawed flash suppressors on automatic weapons.

Noooo... it outlawed the SALE of NEW rifles that were SEMI-AUTOMATIC and had a flash suppressor + 1 other disallowed feature (like a vertical handgrip). Old semi-automatic rifles with flash suppressors could still be sold (those are the "pre-ban" rifles)

Good grief, I haven't seen that poor a job of fact-checking in a long time! The military, of course, uses M-16s and variants, not AR-15s, the caliber is not a sniper caliber, I've never heard of a tripod for it, a 500-yd shot at a human-sized target takes training and skill, it isn't "automatic," and as for flash suppressors,

This device hides the muzzle flash when the gun is fired, making it difficult to detect where the shot originated.

It does nothing of the sort, and anyone who's ever fired a gun after dark can tell you that. It does help (and ONLY help) the shooter from being blinded by the muzzle flash, but the flash itself is perfectly visible from nearly anywhere else. The last case of this I saw was a fellow shooting a historical Chinese AK knockoff with a flash suppressor the size of a funnel at the muzzle, (COMBLOC ammo) and you could read by it.

Lay a Bushmaster beside a Colt. You can see the difference. The Colt reeks QUALITY! The Bushmaster frame has casting flaws. It is accurate though. The Bushmaster I saw looked like someone had wiped it down with an old shedding animal hide and left hair all over the frame. The "hair" turned out to be oil seeping from the casting flaws.
