There is such a thing, but it's much rarer than the "yuck" reaction, and the term certainly shouldn't be applied to the latter (as it very often is). It is the name of a mental disorder, and there ARE people who behave irrationally and not in their own best interests when in the presence of someone who is (or who they think is) gay. Think of the people who viciously beat and even murder complete strangers just because they think they're gay, and are usually quickly caught, because they were so focused on what they were doing that they made little or no effort to avoid leaving evidence or witnesses -- that IS mentally disordered behavior.
