They'll try to blame this on the President, no doubt.

Wasn't the guy who owns Quality Parts (Bushmaster) a big Bush supporter? I am not certain, but I seem to recall him being a significant fund-raiser in the 2000 campaign, who was forced out for "PC" reasons.

If true, I am sure the media will soon remind us of this fact. Multiple times.

"high capacity magazines"
Yeah I heard that one too. Banning high cap mags certainly helped out in this one shot, one kill case. Jeez, this is going to lead to banning all magazines, or even single loading a rifle.

FOX now reporting that the sniper task force was tipped off to that Alabama murder and that's how they got these sleezeballs. I thought that credit card thing was bogus.

If, indeed this is a Bushmaster AR, I can't give the guy much credit for his shooting abilities at the approx 100 yd distances thev'e predicted.

This is a 300 yd rifle all day long, and if you were as good as they say this guy was, he should have been able to take out targets at 4 to 5 hundred yards w/ironsights.

If he was only shooting at 100 yds, he's a bigger puss than I originally suspected.

What say you??

Where are you going to get a clear 300 yard shot in an urban like area, and possibly from inside your car?

I understand where your at on this...my point was the amount of "Markmanship" the elite credited this guy with.

Hell, I can group at a hundred yards with my wife's mini-14.

That is absolutely hilarious. Obviously the large ominous depiction was designed to scare the hell out of women and small children. Now the joke is on them. Course most folks won't notice anyway...

Reportedly, his longest shot was no further than 150 yds, but most were in the 60 to 70 yd - almost pistol - range.

My thoughts exactly.  No facts are known, but we're sure there couldn't be any connection with Al Qaeda.  Once again...

SANITIZED  for your protection.

And they wonder why they have no credibility left.

Last night someone posted the thought that a connection to Al Qaeda might force an admission that OKC may have had a middle-eastern component.  Well, not now hugh?  This end of the investigation is closed tighter than a clam's ass.  And so it goes.  Our federal agencies have once again squandered a chance to come clean.  You'd think they'd wait a week or two.  Let it look realistic.  Do a little token investigating.  Nope.  No need for that!

See what I am saying?? ...something does not add up.

On the 70 yd shots, why was he not made? At 70 yrds, an AR does not sound lot a "pop". There is a very loud report from this weapon. there is no mistaking it at two hundred yards, I don't care how much noise is around.

This ain't sittin right with me.

I could make those shots with my iron-sighted SKS.On a good day I can with my 8" .44 mag.

Most of the "experts" that have been spewing on TV all week don't know what the hell they are talking about.

I see no connect with AQ. The SOB was a Ossama wantabe who will see his 72 virgins or whatever.

What pisses me of is that he was a combat engineer.(my MOS)

String them up and anyone connected to them!

What you said.

I have a 4 x 5 mule deer in my freezer that can no longer attest to how well a handgun works at about 85 yards.

Ooooh. Sport Utility Rifles. Muttly like !

My dad taught me that the best, most reliable firearms are the ones that are "battle proven." This is why I own and use mostly military or police style equipment. If it needs to be used as a weapon, it may just work. Just don't paint it black. Then it is evil.

"This does not bode well for the sunsetting of the "assault weapon" ban..."

And that is the purpose of this and other articles, as well as the news media mistakenly calling an AR-15 an "Assault Rifle".

The propaganda and the agenda continues...

The idiots at CNN created an image of a Bushmaster with the SCOPE ON BACKWARDS!!!

Back when I was trapped in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia, one of the 'news' programs used a graphic of an AR-15 every single time someone got shot. (Handgun, blunderbuss, it didn't matter - up went the 'assault weapon' graphic.) What the jack@sses didn't realize was that the artist had depicted the 'evil' 30-round magazine inserted backwards: it curved towards the (equally 'evil') pistol grip, with the loaded cartridges (obviously) pointed right at the shooter...

;>)

Yah, I heard all that tripe as well. BTW, combat engineers are not marksmanship challenged, however, this guy was definately doing pussy shots.(anyone familiar with a rifle could do it)

I get a headache everytime I hear a media talking head say the guy is some sort of strategic expert on tactics etc. WTF do these idiots come from! LOL!

What would it sound like fm 70 yds if the weapon was fired from INSIDE the car, the round exiting the hole in the trunk? Certainly that would muffle the report...
