If true, then why was he in Montgomery, the city where the Black Panthers was started? Hmmmm...I always thought that the Panthers started in Oakland, CA.

Not according to what I found on the web. The Black Panthers grew out of the Montgomery bus boycott. You may be thinking of the SDS which did originate in Oakland, I believe.
