An Atlanta man says he knew sniper-suspect John Muhammad and described him in an exclusive interview with 11Alive News.
"When I seen his picture I say, 'Baby, I know this guy. I worked for him in Tacoma.' My wife didn't believe me," Johnny Campbell told 11Alive News.
Since hearing about the arrest of Muhammad, Campbell has closely watched television coverage of the sniper investigation. He spoke to 11Alive to convey a message to the world -- don't blame Islam.
He worked for Muhammad's express lube business for four years in Tacoma, Wash. At the time, they seemed to have a lot in common -- both men were in the military and both were muslim, he said.
"It shocked me. It really shocked me. I couldn't, didn't believe it, but then I had been saying all along that you know whoever was doin' it in D.C. had to be someone out of the military and an expert at it," said Campbell.
Campbell described Muhammad as a Gulf War veteran trained as a sniper.
"He was the type that was sent out to spy upon the enemy and kill at will."
Campbell also said Muhammad was a perfectionist with a short temper, who harbored some resentment for his role in Desert Storm.
"I did hear him say once or twice about the way the the government was sending us over there and using us as Guinea pigs and bring us back. He was kinda upset with the government for that."
However, Campbell said he never imagined that his former boss and fellow Muslim could have had any connection to the sniper case.
"I'm really stunned. I don't know what could have happened. I really don't. I know it's not the work of Allah that made this happen."
Campbell said he wanted to make it very clear that if Muhammad is the sniper his actions go against the teachings of their religion. Campbell said Muhammad must have had "a breakdown."
Campbell said his boss was married with three young children. He didn't recognize the name of the second suspect arrested -- Lee Malvo -- who is said to be Muhammad's step-son.
Hmmm, seems awfully familiar to me.....

That lying sack of you-know-what! That guy was nothing more than a MECHANIC.
It sure looks to me like there's a lot of flak trying to obliterate the facts. I still say the witness who lied did it to cover the guy's tracks.
