If you like Ann's brand of over-the-top, caustic hyperbole persuasive only to people who already agree with her, great! I don't. I find it repulsive, prohibitive to persuading anyone who might be inclined to sympathize with Conservative viewpoints, and generally counter productive to the Conservative movement. Firebrands like Coulter may serve as wonderful cheerleaders for the Conservative base, but they do zilch to advance the Conservative cause. Great, soft spoken thinkers like Kirk and Buckley, Podhoretz and Kristol (father and son) do far more for the Conservative cause than ten Coulters could do in five lifetimes. Like I said, she's mildly entertaining. Then again, so is Howard Stern.

So does Guns n' Roses. Your point?

Heh, you forgot the sarcasm tag, hope you had your shields up.

I find it repulsive, prohibitive to persuading anyone who might be inclined to sympathize with Conservative viewpoints, and generally counter productive to the Conservative movement. The group of those "inclined to sympathize with Conservative viewpoints" is NOT getting the conservative message outside of those brave enough to speak the truth (regardless how "repulsive" it may sound) like Ann Coulter. Yes, Ann C. packs much information into each sentence; and her delivery is intense. How else can she get her point across, and what's wrong with her "calling them as she sees them"?
When appearing on television in group forums, she is constantly interrupted by the outnumbering liberals; and she rarely is able to complete a sentence. Furthermore, the average reader has the attention span of ~30 seconds (a TV commercial); so, her columns attempt to deliver as much information within that short time span.
In today's PC culture, conservative females are our best, if not only, means of presenting the Conservative message. The truth is ALWAYS difficult to accept even in the most benign fashion. Ann's style will not ultimately deter those earnestly seeking the truth.
In today's climate a true Conservative should be glad that the Conservative message is being presented to such a large audience as Ann C's.

Firebrands like CoulterPretty sad when conservative truth-speakers are labeled "firebrands" by purported conservatives.

Ann's "message" is only being heard by those who want to hear it because they already agree with it. It reinforces what they want to believe. Never underestimate the power of shouting and table pounding to obfuscate an otherwise reasonable message. Like I've said, she's right about the issues, she just goes about it all wrong, and in the process repulses anyone who might be inclined to agree with her because most people simply cannot stomach her hyper-rhetorical vitriol. Her main objective, I assure you, is to make money. Being a GOP cheerleader is quite lucrative these days. Rest assured you'll never find someone who says "Gosh I was a liberal until I saw Ann Coulter screaming in some effeminated Liberal's face as he stammered and sputtered trying to get a word in edgewise". Kuduos if you do. Make sure to PM me.

True, Ann uses the tactics of the left against them. True, some people may be put off by her mannerisms and hyperbole.
But it is also true that you are ascribing this sensitivity to a group of people (liberals and 'moderates') who are in full acceptance of liberals who use such hyperbole on a daily basis.
If her style ticks you off, don't watch, listen, or read it. But don't expect to get the nation's attention only through the careful, quiet application of reason and thoughfulness. There's a thousand stories out there about needing a two-by-four to get a mule's attention, and I, for one, believe that Ann can be an effective attention getter.

Well you make your case far better than most people who respond when I criticize Ann. The last person told me they were going to have me banned!! LOL!!

"Buckley....Kristol" Buckley is a cure for insomnia and Kristol is a sniveling twit. Ann has something to say and she says it in a way that makes you sit up and pay attention. She may go a little over the top occasionally, but it is part of her style and personally, I think it is appealing. Why should the Rats have a monopoly on verbal assault? Ann lets them have it and she does it masterfully in a language they can understand. It isn't like what she says isn't true.

To be a Democrat IS to be irresponsible.
