Bump because I love your expression "The Redwood Curtain." Is that in common use or did you just coin it?

It expresses what has happened to the West Coast perfectly, and brings to mind the image of Robert Kennedy (rabble rouser) and the granny-groupies who have done so much to shut down the timber industry of the coast.
