Police Close Maryland Road After School Bus Threat
October 23, 2002 04:30 PM ETWASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police said on Wednesday they had closed part of a major Maryland highway after receiving a report that a white box truck pulled up next to a school bus and pointed a gun at the children inside.
"A report came in that a white Isuzu box truck was in the vicinity of a school bus with children on board. There is a report that perhaps there was a gun pointed at the bus, but we cannot confirm that," Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Lucille Baur told Reuters.
Police say a sniper has killed 10 people and injured three in a three-week shooting spree. Tensions across the Washington area rose further on Tuesday when police reported the attacker had threatened to target children.
The police have been looking been focusing on white box trucks in their investigation, based on early witness reports. A portion of the I-270 highway was closed indefinitely, the spokeswoman said.
Now in Reuters' case it doesn't surprise me that A) they think trucks can point guns, or B) They could't write a sentence that made sense if their profits depended on it, which apparently they don't.
