I got a reply from the mod about that thread:

Jim Robinson thought so and NUKED him. '

I was kinda suspicious that he was a troll stirring up the muslim-haters though I didn't see that in his posts ( but that Ayn Rand reference was suspect).
But Jim's nose on these matters is far better than mind.

I was disgusted by the stupid hateful replies he recieved from a few. But encouraged by the cautiously welcoming replies of most.

That IBI thread was quite a spoof, reminiscent of the olde days at Free Republic.

I remember a rather infamous Vanity from 1998 where a guy asked everyone to accept him as a brother even though he was an atheist--sniff, sniff (as if it mattered). Of course it was just pure theatre on his part---and only Act 1 of a dreadful, and very boring play.
