Are you saying they're happy with a life expectancy of 50?

I'm saying leave us alone. We're not political tools. If I had my druthers, I'd spend every day in the woods with my bow (thank God it's deer season and I can).

The "modern conveniences" that socialists such as this writer want to foist upon the Indians are merely a means to salve their conscience. Screw them. The best thing that anyone could do is to end all welfare and walk away. No handouts, no regulations, no sugar daddy government pulling the strings on the "self-government" Indian councils. Walk away and mind your own business.

Did you read the article?

"Here where cradle-to-grave socialism, the Democrats' fantasy state, is realized..."

"Former President Clinton waltzed through Pine Ridge on a lip-biting tour with Tom Daschle and then-Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Andrew Cuomo in 1999. "You have suffered from neglect, and you know that doesn't work. You have also suffered from the tyranny of patronizing, inadequately funded government programs, and you know that doesn't work," Clinton thundered in a speech promising to create "new markets" for the poor and clean up the squalor in Tom Daschle's South Dakota...."

"But the Democrats' grand housing construction and revitalization scheme for Pine Ridge, which made for nice glossy brochures and promotional videos, fell short...."

"While his destitute constituents on Pine Ridge huddle around their ovens for heat and drink in despair, Tom Daschle says he can do better for America's economy. Have you seen what he has done for South Dakota lately?"

Sounds like the point she's making is exactly the opposite of the nanny-state socialism foisted on the Indians by the likes of Daschle, Clinton, and the Democrats. That what's bad for the Indians would be just as bad for America.

You Know, if I could I would spend every day in the woods with my bow. I'm scandanavian/irish, race has nothing to do with M.M.writing this piece, except that the dems are demagoging this issue, have been for decades.

And if you need to let off steam, feel free to freepmail me to let off some frustration, then you won't be banned.

I've seen some of your posts here and I may not always agree with you, you are a worthy person who adds to this site.

Michele isn't trying to "use" indians to make a point, she is trying to expose the dems for using indians to make a point. Big difference.
