The Washington-area sniper seems to be taking cues from the media as to what his next move should be, Newhouse News Service notes.
Among the evidence:
A former FBI profiler said Friday on CNN, "I could see, he could keep going on down to Ashland, possibly all the way to Richmond ..." The maniac killed in Ashland the next day.
After officials announced they were using a geographic profiler to examine possible links in locations of the shootings, the gunman moved much farther out.
The Washington Post ran a story last Tuesday headlined "Weekend Lulls in Shootings Could Offer Clue on Lifestyle." The next victim was shot the following Saturday.
Several media quoted profilers Oct. 4, 5 and 6 as saying the sniper was "playing God" or "has a God complex." On Oct. 7 the shooter left a tarot card saying, "I am God."
An official in Montgomery County, Md., said on TV networks Oct. 3, "We feel children will be safe inside schools with us." On Oct. 7, the sniper shot a pupil at a school in Bowie, Md.
"He's absolutely responding to the media," forensic scientist Brent Turvey told Newhouse. "This guy is watching the news."
Thank God! Can you imagine how devastating it would be to the entire USA if a senator from an important state like NY or MA were killed? Why, that might be enough to bring down the entire USA, government, economy, and military. Gee, I hope the sniper doesn't go after them.
