This was a CYA move by Moose in case another kid gets shot. Otherwise, if he didn't reveal this part of the note and another kid got shot, he would be (unreasonably) crucified. As it stands, though, to protect his own butt, he has furthered the objective of the sniper (or someone pretending to be the sniper) by terrorizing people.

Hmm? I understand your point. I can't fault him, though. When I think about it, when you're dealing with Terrorism and this situation that Chief Moose is in, it seems like it's a Heads you win, tails I lose situation to me.....

And I don't see it as Chief Moose terrorizing people. I see it as an attempt to get people that might have their heads up the you-know-what's to be alert. There are stupid people out there that you have to scream at to get their attention, you know?.....

If this Sniper weren't being a bad boy, nobody would have ever heard of Chief Moose. He's just trying to do his job, imho.....

I personally do not believe believe that Rumsfeld would cave like that. Now I could believe that he would let detainees out so that they could deliver a message to AQ.

If "everyone" had a weapon, the sniper's sniping, would cease. Not because someone shot him, rather because someone would/could shoot him!

Wish they would release more info, like the entire note.

The problem is that the murderer asked him not to make it public. And if he gets displeased with Ch. Moose, then he just kills another person. I believe the the chief weighed the need for the public to know about the threat to children against the possibility of another shooting. Difficult decision to have to make!

I am completely astounded at the lack of courage being displayed in the Washington Metro area. I don't think the majority of the people who live here share these views (of cowardice) but none the less, it's very disturbing.

Agreed. Im glad that you are NOT training your kids to fall apart over every challenge they might face in life. Yes the killings are terrible, but what bothers me even more is the way some of our fellow Americans are reacting.

A friend of mine was visiting Baltimore a week or so ago. One night she stepped outside her motel and saw a white box truck. She immediately hit the ground behind a parked car. Personally I think there is too much focus on self. For some its as though there is this danger out there and it is targeting them, personally.

Coward! No wonder this country is run by Democrat wimps. Everyone wants a guarantee that life will be exactly what they want it to be. If you live in the area, you stand a better chance of getting hit by lightening than getting shot at by the sniper. You probably have a greater chance of drowning in your bath tub. Grow up. Show a little spine. When your time is up, its up.

Yeah, I live in the area. And it ain't too pleasant right now. It is an indescribable feeling to have when you are going through ordinary chores like getting the newspaper from your front yard and thinking that you are in the sights of a cold blooded killer. And what about constantly worrying about your wife and kids all the time.

So, sorry pal, it actually takes all the courage I have to live life on life's terms and go about my business.

You are welcome to move to Maryland with me and tilt the demographics to the republican side, but only the bravest may apply.

Do you constantly live in fear of a fatal automobile accident too as that is many, many times more likely to occur?

Easy does it, Guy. You can fantasize how inferior I am, re-read the post above. It describes a unusual occurance in one's life.

Sometimes some stuff does not have to be given to the media!

Should be a total media blackout. A local reporter was complained that no one was answering the phone at police headquaters public affairs office, minutes after th latest shooting. I would like to think the cops were working at that time.

Do you suppose the people in the Beltway thought their children and they themselves were safe from this idiot killer? Still, I can't imagine living life never leaving my house out of fear. I can't imagine that kind of power should be granted this murdering misfit.

Did our government suppress the surface to air missile that downed the TWA flight in long Island? Did our government suppress the Iraqi connection in blowing up the government building in Oklahoma City? Did we cave in under the fanatic Moslem Egyptian pressure that forced us to deny that an Islamic terrorist blow up the Egypt Air flight in New England?

Till when are we prepared to shelter our public from confronting heads-on the fact that ISLAM, at least the way it is preached today IS the enemy. Islam MUST reform, or else it should be considered a death cult that is prohibited in the West.

Moose is the head of one county police department, why is he taking the lead over all other counties, mayors, FBI head, and other heavy weights?
