You posited that there was a solution; namely that we all collectively decide to essentially hang our heads and admit we were all guilty of some erroneous conduct and decide to behave in a more acceptable manner. While we all would wish that the situation did not exist as it does today, the fact of the matter is that it does, and will not change in the manner we would wish in the future unless we all understand what is causing the difficulties expressed herein and strive in some quite specific directions to resolve the situation for the better.

Well, I'm trying to get through this thread, but it doesn't look like my schedule's gonna allow it tonight.
For the record (and a bookmark), I don't go for the "hang our heads" theory. Better we keep them up and watch where we're going.
