Does anybody else find it a little strange to have such a kill ration with a .223 fired from any type of weapon? Why are they sure it is a .223 except for the casings that may be a hoax. Wouldn't a 22-250 or a .220 Swift use the same slug with much greater potency? I wonder if the cops have given that consideration. Could be a bench rest pistol in one of those rounds and be much more lethal than the dreaded assualt rifle.

I've been thinking the same thing. I've shot several deer (and hundreds of prairie rats) with .223's and this kind of lethality just isn't there, regardless of bullet type. This monster could have easily picked up so empty .223 brass at a shooting range and dropped it at the scenes (before the shootings) to through off the investigators.
