Everyone has derided Moose through this, but I've got a new respect for the man. He's tried to tell us through the last few appearances that there is something more afoot than we could hope to know right now. The media has treated him poorly, and he's taken the whipping like a man.
I said all that to say, that I think you might be right. We aren't going to automatically give in. I haven't read this particular script before, but it certainly doesn't end this way.
The games afoot! Let's just hope that Mrs. Peel and James Bond and Columbo and whatever other gumshoes and spies are working on this thing can crack it before anyone else dies.
I do, too. I resent people making fun of the way he talks. My paternal grandparents did not have a good command of English, because German was their first language. They said dem, dose, dese...the only difference is that instead of saying wif, they said wid for the word "with." Heck, our own police chief, a man from Boston, has an accent as alien to us in Green Bay as someone from Alabama or another state in the deep South.
The media's goal is to get as information as they can. The goal of the police is to keep as much information close to their vests (and I hope their vests are sturdy kevlar) as they can. Now they have a bit of what the killer said. And now we know why they've been so cautious with the children (two of whom are the children of my cousin who live in northern Virginia).
The killer wants to be in control, to strike fear and terror into us, but with this threat, he's only made us P!SSED.
