Here, let's follow the logic of your scenario. All information is released to the public. Even though the professionals have not been able to locate him, with that $500,000 reward there will no doubt be a lot of Columbos combing the streets.

In addition, suspicion of all foreigners will grow astronomically, and no doubt a few will be assaulted or killed. The hysteria will spread to the Black Community, which will have Black Muslims harrassed.

Some members of the black community, enraged by this, would no doubt retaliate in kind. Riots would break out in the black, Arab, and Hispanic areas, fueled by hot-shot vigilantes who think they are going to solve this crime.

Meanwhhile, the sniper would still be shooting people, and LE would be distracted by the increase in civil unrest.

If it were my city, I would not want all the information released either.

Also, some of the information might be EVIDENCE which would be compromised if released to the public.

ABC radio news reports that the roadblocks did not go up until some 20 minutes after the shooting. That seems to help prove your theory.

Agreed. Actually, I don't think the shooter is using the highways to any great degree at this point as it would be far too risky. Anything other than just a short hop on hop off to get away from the immediate area right after the shooting would be inviting capture. He knows that police are going to set up roadblocks over a large area so why take a chance on not getting far enough away to elude them. Not to mention the possibility of getting caught in a traffic jam and running smack dab into a roadblock. This guy or guys have this way too well thought out, IMO.

In line with a comment made some way up the thread, my gut tells me the shooter is staying within the area. Even if the shot is heard right away and reported quickly there's going to be a few minute delay before LE reactions come into play. If the escape route and ultimate escape destination is well scoped he could be out sufficiently away from the scene and out of the vehicle if he's using one (and as was suggested maybe in a coffee shop or restaurant) before the news even breaks.

If you know where you're going and have a reasonable assurance that traffic gremlins won't come into play its amazing how much ground could be covered in 3-5 minutes.

Bottom line...I think the shooter stays close to the event. He's not getting on the highway or if he is he isn't staying on it for more than a minute or so.

I heard on the radio(CNN Staion) WOKV. there was a woman talking and all she was saying was

"It's not correct do not report it".

But they went to the news break late so I didn't get to hear if she was speaking on his condition.

Not a bad idea. Sadly, that may be where we are headed. Just listening to Glenn Beck, and he mentioned what if; "this begins happening in Chicago, Seattle, LA, Dallas, KC" you name the city. Well, if so, then we can pretty much bet it is AQ/Islamic. Man if that happens, we will all be in deep sh!t. Hey, I would ride in that posse. Maybe we should round one up. and to borrow a phrase. Sorry for the long hesitation but I am in cubicle hell...Glen Beck has a morning show on the EIB network, and he mentioned it this morning and also made mention of the fact that there was a direct threat to the schools if his demands were not met. This is why everyone was in such a panic because they had missed the sniper's deadline and were frantic to have him contact them.

I was looking at the photo of the bus on Fox News's website and it struck me as rather sad and mournful that the bus's marquee says 'Not In Service.' Sorry for sharing that - just a moment of reflection on the bus driver's passing.
