Everyone has derided Moose through this, but I've got a new respect for the man. He's tried to tell us through the last few appearances that there is something more afoot than we could hope to know right now. The media has treated him poorly, and he's taken the whipping like a man.

I do, too. I resent people making fun of the way he talks. My paternal grandparents did not have a good command of English, because German was their first language. They said dem, dose, dese...the only difference is that instead of saying wif, they said wid for the word "with." Heck, our own police chief, a man from Boston, has an accent as alien to us in Green Bay as someone from Alabama or another state in the deep South.

The media's goal is to get as information as they can. The goal of the police is to keep as much information close to their vests (and I hope their vests are sturdy kevlar) as they can. Now they have a bit of what the killer said. And now we know why they've been so cautious with the children (two of whom are the children of my cousin who live in northern Virginia).

The killer wants to be in control, to strike fear and terror into us, but with this threat, he's only made us P!SSED.

Does everyone remember after 9/11 when everyone said "We are a different country now than we were on 9/10.  We are somehow less innocent, less safe."  I think this latest revelation from the sniper communique just marked another turning of our "innocence".

They are talking this think to death. They have talked about nothing else for the last 8 hours. They just need to start an "all sniper" news channel. No wait...they don't need to, they're already doing that.

I believe they know that this is terrorism from either foreign or domestic (doesn't really matter) operatives that want the US economy to collapse. If they acknowledge that this is terrorism, the economy could likely collapse, as the very important holiday shopping season is approaching. No shopping...no travelling...no going out to eat...Right back into recession...or worse.

Additionally, the election is 2 weeks away. Imagine very few people going to the polls. Imagine the chaos that would cause inside our government (remember Florida 2000).

This is why I believe thay won't acknowledge what this really is.

Well, could be. If so, I would lean toward nonMETs. But either way, we should tell them to go stuff it, and tell them we have concrete clues and evidence. Tell them they had better not sleep too deeply, (better leave one eye open), better be looking behind them all the time, and that they won't hear the shot and bullet either. Don't ever negotiate with these types. This is out house. We will clean our house. If I don't start hearing some strong, confident, reassuring words from the LEAs, then I am going to puke.

It is my OPINION that this letter is NOT from the sniper...so I am just opining that maybe they MIGHT CONSIDER this "POSSIBILITY" .

A CNN article I just read somewhere on FR said that there was some kind of code or signal on the 3-page letter so the police would know they were corresponding with the sniper.

Wait a minute! You just hit the answer. Chief Moose needs to ask the peanut farmer in to handle the negotiations with the sniper.

DC can't vote for any Fed office, can they? Don't think it would disrupt DC all that much. VA, MD maybe, but I doubt there are many polling places just off the interstates.

Well, why don't you surrender yourself to take the place of any children they might need?

Of course we won't surrender - but we darn sure will protect the children - we are not Palestinians you know.

We will get prepared for terrorist attacks (as Miss Marple suggested). We will get guns, we will mount neighborhood watches.

We will demand that the government close all cells in the U.S. whether it violates their "rights" or not. We will demand that those in cells be imprisoned until all this is resolved without needing to prove anything. We will search where we need to search, have martial law if needed, we will go to war against these creeps. All who have had terrorist training will lose their American citizenship and be exported to the country providing the training.

Schools will have guards mounted and no one allowed entry to the school except personnel. There will be bracelets for children with matching bracelets for the parents. The parents will have to pick up their children personally. There will be garages where parents can drive in and pick up their children - no walking in the open.
