Somebody Gets It. This fracture, this shattering of the American mirror into a thousand disparate shards has been in the works for years. For those with some sense of history, it's the third phase of what Antonio Gramsci envisioned for Western culture - the collapse of the West in general and America in particular into a nightmare of chaos, slaughter and anarchy. Gramsci figured that people would welcome a totalitarian savior with open arms.
Thanks to the 'change agents' our public school system who fill our kids' heads with phony self-esteem and hatred of the American Creed; thanks to the slow and steady poisoning of our intellectual life by the multi-cultural Marxism preached with Stalinist rigor in our universities; thanks to the elites leading the steady march of our culture - art, music, theater, literature - into the gutter; thanks to the hate-filled liars who promote class, race and gender warfare in an effort to drag us down into the kind of tribalism that has kept Africa one of the most brutal and poverty-stricken places on Earth; thanks to each and every empty-headed and soulless monster whose sick fantasies of power and domination over every sphere of human thought and endeavor have caused the deaths of over a hundred of million in the last century alone -
A sizable percentage of the American public is now so dumbed down, so rabbit-scared, so entitled that they'd welcome the Man on the White Horse as soon as he rode onstage.
My family and I will resist that eventuality with every means at our disposal.
I have no desire to combat with reason communitarian zombies who have voluntarily rendered themselves witless , or to spend my happiness, property or life in defense of dirt: the ideas that I revere are portable, and welcome wherever people observe the Golden Rule.
Some of my ancestors came here fleeing tyranny; the time may come when the ancestral homelends entice me back.
I've taken note of numerous places around the globe where U.S. expats have formed little communities. Even in places like Chile, where the restrictions on general freedom are more severe than ours, these folks are relitively more free than we: these countries' governments are very vertical in their effect, and it's easy to remain out of the searchlight of scrutiny. Here, my neighbor is calling the authorities when I have a pile of horse dung higher than the town ordinances allow. I'm inclined to run away.
That bears repeating.
We are losing the culture war, a conflict which is a far bigger threat to the Republic than al-Qaeda.

GRAMSCI WAS RIGHT.
I think the word "tribalism" deserves a lot more play around here. Congrats for recognizing it in today's context...the left and right are cementing the bonds of our two major tribes, and it IS a war for survival. Unfortunately, Tribe Leftist is in the process of allying itself with outside tribes which threaten America.
RE Gramsci...Yes, he WAS right, but I don't think he created and set into motion a vision of the downfall of a civilization, as much as he SAW and COMPREHENDED, before anyone else did, those forces which inevitably destroy all cultures.
