There is no difference between making jokes about 1) Moose for not catching the sniper yet and 2) Bush for not catching Bin Laden. Thank you for your comments! I also am sick of some of the jokes being made about this man. There is no way he deserves this kind of treatment. He is not in control of this investigation, he is a participant. It has gone way beyond him. What is it now, at least 5 jurisdictions and Federal, State, and local authorities involved. Maybe he isn't the most articulate spokesman, but I think the cheap shots are pretty low.

lol you forgot the Ernestine snorts

LEOs in the US generally don't negotiate with bad guys unless something major is on the table. Is that correct? I thought one LEO strategy was to keep the BG talking until he's caught...

Surprise ending, you mean like Moose is the real sniper and a bald man resembling Bruce Willis is hit by the bullet does not die, they become friends, until Moose reveals at the end--
"There been so many times I been flustrated, so many times I doubted myself. So many sacribices, just to, again sir, find you.
Again sir, now that we know who you be, I knowz who I am."

I thought one LEO strategy was to keep the BG talking until he's caught. We thought hijackers would want to negotiate before last September, too. I could be mistaken, but I was pretty sure that in most cases that negotiation is out the window.

"We are dealing with Islamic Terrorists after all."
Other than the fact that -- to mimic a large faction of FReepers -- "we are at war," what justification do you have for this statement? If you know who the sniper/s is/are, then you should call the tip line or contact Chief Moose. Because as far as the rest of the world knows, it could be anybody doing this -- and the hard evidence actually points away from Muslim Terrorists. But, of course, you probably think the hard evidence is nothing but a Muslim conspiracy to distract the police from the REAL evidence.
It could be Islamic Terrorism -- but it could also be a homegrown psycho, or even a pissed-off Frenchman, as suggested in earlier threads. WE JUST DON'T KNOW. If you do know, you better go tell the cops.

Perhaps the sniper gave the police a phone booth number and told the cops to be there for the call?

Has anyone considered how cool it would be if Chief Moose had an assistant named Cheese?

but that it is also to let the public know if they are safe or not, seems that Moose did not grasp that point. How does Moose's information make him any better equipped to make that assessment than anyone else with publicly accessible info on the shootings, and the knowledge that the guy has not been caught?

Seems they found a phone number near the last shooting. Yet they are telling the person who left it to call them. Why don't they just call the number they found? The number appears to be one of their tip lines.

"Denzel will play the Moose in the movie about the Sniper Task Force.."
That will be his biggest challenge. It would take a week just to learn how to say whevver.

This is absolutely hillarious! The media's going nuts with itself trying to figure out what's going on. I'd like to know for myself as much as anybody, but watching the media hacks squirm in the informational void is simply priceless Same here...I actually turned on CNN to watch them chase their tails for a bit. They actually had a discussion as to whether the media was over the top in covering the story...then they went back to live coverage.
To: mondonico
Is that correct? I thought one LEO strategy was to keep the BG talking until he's caught... That was my thought. I'm conjecturing that "the person" who answered the call understood everything just fine the first time, and police want another call to confirm that this is the real sniper calling, or to try to get a bead on his location, or something similar.

This thread seems too good to be missed.
Bump for myself.
