NO, children do not belong to the state, parents alone have custody, responsibility and say over their lives. NO, islam is not a religion of peace.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed! I thought my comments, although sarcastic, were pretty straight forward and my point apparant. Point taken, however.

Some of the posts here are pretty disturbing! I'd like to point out that spelling and grammar skills are not an indication of education. Many people who are well educated (school wise) have poor spelling and grammar skills. Paper education (read diplomas, certificates, degrees) don't mean anything except that person holding them put in the time. Many well educated people are autodiadacts. They find learning fascinating and do it just because! Years ago in this country people worked to subside. They educated themselves for the joy of it. The two were not connected. Someone here already suggested John Taylor Gatto's UNDERGROUND HISTORY, I'd like to suggest Charlotte Iserbyt's THE DELIBERATE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA. Sad to say that in todays world if we want our children to be well educated, with the ability to think and discern, we MUST home educate them!
There are also many life skills that are important that children who attend school do not have TIME to learn. How about the ability to put their back into a job, hard physical work, the ability to run a home, cooking, minor repair work, etc. The kids in this case may have many, many skills that the school system just does not measure. If these kids were special ed. eligible, these skills may very likely better serve them in their lives! In todays world, with OBE and socialist agendas, all kids are expected to learn the same things and turn out to be "like products". But no matter that expectation, that will never be the case. Parents know their own kids the best and what is best for them and they do have the right to make the decisions!
