To: Chancellor Palpatine
Some days, I'm not even sure why I'm here. It is like talking to the wall most of the time, with people who want to marginalize themselves, and who love losing elections.

I'm not marginalized, and I'm not a wall...talk to people without the hubris turned up so high, and they might listen to some of your ideas. But don't be surprised if you are challenged here when it comes to academic freedom for ourselves and our children...we know the failures of the public school and the social welfare systems too well.

Oh well, I'll keep sending in my monthly check and help keep the joint running. Of course, that should make you happy...

Actually it does. Free Republic is a national treasure. Kudoes for your wise decision to support this enterprise...you're doing a service to your country.

...since that is the only reason you want us center right Republicans around - to keep the playgrounds open so y'all can wander in, gripe, crap in the corner, and stomp out while complaining that no one let you play.

I have no problem finding a place to play---the fields are white unto harvest, but the laborers are few. I don't wander, I don't gripe---I fight for what I believe in...I certainly don't cr*p in the corner. (Is that high-falutin' talk what they teach you to get a doctorate? ;-)...and I'm certainly not complaining about no one letting me play.

Oh, and I won't 'stomp out'...as Thomas Jefferson said so eloquently, "the price of liberty is eternal vigilance".

To: EternalVigilance
Jefferson's idea of "Eternal Vigiliance" was to destroy the nation's military capacity so carefully built up by Washington and Hamilton. His idea of "eternal vigilance" was to eliminate the U.S. Navy and not protect our merchant marine.
