No one here is "celebrating" the errant Mrs. O'Dell. Or Ms. Wade, hopefully.

Actually much of the Welfare budget and educational budgets are absorbed by such people and their children. All too often they do end up leaving the state to raise their children after having shown total incompetence or disinterest in raising them. There are regular stories here of the moms (with many children from different mens) who live in unbelieveable squalor. Children are neglected unfed welfare money spent on drugs houses filled with trash, feces rats and roaches. You would just allow them to starve and die of neglect rather than allow the "Stormtroopers" or "thugs" to save their lives with tax money.
I have no problem with sterilization of women who produce vicious bastards on a regular basis and burden the rest of society with them.

In your case we know the answer to the question of capability.
To: southern rock
Since you have never had to deal with pupils' parents your opinion is worthless.
To: ApesForEvolution
Did you have to practice long to become such an idiot? Or did it come naturally to you?

Thanks for the post it has some valid points and some incorrect ones but is too long to dissect at this time.

"Now go to any urban setting and many of the black children are failing in
school, are absent more often than not from school, and are active in criminal
enterprises. Their mothers don't know where thir kids are most of the time.
Yet, the socialist complex of psycholgists and government administrators
continue to fund and enable these fatherless families and don't take the kids
away from their drug ridden mothers."
You've hit on something I've been wondering about for years. Why are children whose mothers are on crack, have the "boyfriends" in to stay overnight, and generally neglect the children, NOT turned over to a child protection agency?

Strange how I only see your posts when it is time to defend some state's confiscation of someone's children.
Very strange.
To: RGSpincich
Same with you.
Do you post to any threads other than to demonize parents who have had the state take their children?
I can't say I've ever seen you except months ago when you managed to glorify the destruction of the Christine family in Oregon.
To: Roscoe
Some of the cultists equate children with property. Scr*w you.
You think they are the property of the state.
To: EternalVigilance
Do you post to any threads other than to demonize parents who have had the state take their children? Yes. I post to threads where some half baked busy body is giving out free legal advice to folks. Those folks usually end up losing their kids and going to jail, though.
To: RGSpincich
Yeah, because of half-baked busybody statists like you who think they know better than parents how to care for and educate THEIR children.
To: EternalVigilance
Do you post to any threads other than to demonize parents who have had the state take their children? Or I post to threads where parents have pleaded guilty to child abuse, where the children have had skull fractures, suffering from malnutrition, where those same parents have been convicted of felony robbery, etc.
Whereas you, I only see you posting on those threads defending the criminals, usually they have committed crimes against kids.
To: RGSpincich
So, to you, I suppose homeschooling is abuse?
Or being down on your luck financially...that qualifies as abuse as well, I suppose.
Your charges against the Christines were overblown and false. They got railroaded by a bunch of the-state-educational/welfare-system-owns-all-the-children busybodies like yourself...unfortunately busybodies with power. It's sad that they eventually took the law into their own hands, but the state started it nonetheless...they pushed them over the edge by stealing their family.
I bet you are just wetting your pants waiting for this family to lose their cool and do something stupid.

>>The basis for the children being taken into custody was educational neglect." <<
But then they go on and say this:
"According to documentation several state witnesses accused Mrs. O'Dell of having 'standards' and expectations that were too high for her children."
I am sorry but you cannot neglect and have standards too high all that the same time. It's either one or the other. So what is it? Is she negelcting their education or has she just set the bar higher then the feel good educrats like.
If it weren't for the fact that they were Christians AND homeschoolers (two strikes) the PTB would be calling their living situation a courageous and diverse lifestyle choice that we should all be tolerant of (and I do find them corageous just in a different way then the lefties would) . But they have made the mistake (in the damn Commies eyes) of showing they don't need any government help or interference (although they will accept neighborly assistance). It scares the darn Commmies that people can solve their problems independent of them and they will punish them accordingly to make sure they get back in line where they belong.
These people need lots of prayers sent on their behalf.

..usually they have committed crimes against kids. Yeah, homeschoolers are such abusers and criminals. /sarcasm
To: kancel
They need a whole lot more help than just prayers. They need actions by fellow Christians.
The Christines got lots of prayers, but little else.
They are now rotting in a state prison in Oregon...and have lost their children forever.
People need to wake up and realize that this could be them.

The 60% figure and 80% figure are not just pulled out of the air, I will find the report. It is a Government national assessment report. Also these numbers were use in building the Bush policy on national testing and failing schools.
These numbers also prove that no matter how many sons you have had get a good education, the trend is otherwise for the majority. Your sons school had scores higher than the national average, which shows the failing at most public schools.
You talk allot about the "better" schools and the "good" Teachers, yet the statistics say that those are not the norm.
Some home school and private school children attend various classes at public High School. These are usually Band, Choir or some such other "arts" program. The Schools allow this for the statistical advantage Private and Home School children bring to their scores. It also allows them to take up 100% of the allowance per student for "part timers".
You show your bias in your comments towards parents that would allow their children to attend certain classes. You obviously do not know the reasoning most parents Home School. I do not Home school to keep my children safe from Satan, I do it to ensure my Childs place in his/her future. I would never send my child to a public school, they are too important to me. It is private or home school, no second rate education for my kids.
As for State mandates on Rules, Regulations and Curriculum, there are many court cases showing the clashes between Parents and School officials, State Bureaucrats and the federal government. These would be non-existent if not for the control of the Government in education.
You should read the real statistics and stop comparing the issues only to your own experience. The real state of education is abysmal and everyone but you admits it. The only question is what to do about it.
To: EternalVigilance
they pushed them over the edge by stealing their family. The girls were saved and the parents pled guilty to starving them. The two year old weighed 15 pounds, slender right?
So, to you, I suppose homeschooling is abuse?
You preconceived notions are blurring your vision. I have nothing bad to say about homeschooling. The mom here has made some mistakes and then been misled by an unqualified advocate giving legal advice. The mom is in jail and without her kids because of Cindy Wade, no other reason.
