Hey, byteback! Love that name. Yes, do be with us, you'll not regret it & you'll really like all the people who come from all walks of life & a surprisingly diverse range (no FReeper comments on the "d" word, I just slipped!) of viewpoints. Tho'I moved north, I'm a 25 year Marinite who can testify there are a lot more of us there than media & politicians admit who don't/won't squeeze into the old "peacock feathers, redwood hot tub, filled Chardonnay galss but empty head" mold. Check American Perservative's cool post #55 for all the pkg. lots. Best to go into one as you have good chance of having a bud' among us who parked there, too, & will walk back w/you to your car later. Tips: Dress comfortably in layers (good shoes are vital), bring water, small fannypack (ID/license, money, phone, quarters for the public john should be easy to get at but hard to loose). Hat, sunglasses or other weather related gear, small camera & snack bar are good options. if you can, don't forget a flag or sign that says what you feel.

Those are all good ideas on things to bring and wear. One thing I always try to have on hand is a cell phone. You never know when you may need to make an emergency call. Cameras are always good to have, not only for the after FReep reports to post, but it may also be necessary to have documentary evidence.

FYI - At one FReep, where we were at the Civic Center across from the Plaza in front of another building, we didn't have a permit (there were only a few of us) but, the police told us we couldn't go ON the Plaza (I think as a group) because the Lefties had a permit for the WHOLE plaza and for sound. (And when we had a bullhorn at another FReep, we were told we could not use it while their speakers were speaking.)

Hopefully, the surrounding sidewalks will be free. Guess we'll find out. : )

(And, you're right, IMO, it's not the same time and place - different time, different sidewalk.)

I think the city only grants permits if your protest involves the George W. Bush puppet. What's the deal with that thing? The lefties seem to pass it from protest to protest, regardless of the issue at hand. I have to admit I liked that Clinton puppet though!

Important note: Caltrain is not running on the weekends for the next 1-2 years, as they are upgrading the tracks to allow for express trains.

Section 12403.7 of the California Penal Code allows any law-abiding, non-felon, non-minor person to possess or use pepper spray or other aerosol tear gas, provided they are used solely for self-defense purposes, and contain no more than 2.5 ounces net weight of aerosol spray.

Check your local sporting goods store or gun shop.

Hi mvpel. Re: #76 - thanks. I believe Caltrain has buses running, but, thanks for pointing that out.

The theme is supporting our troops, president and country (and Israel, if people want to show support, 'cause the Left is anti-America and anti-Israel).

See some of the FReeping threads from FResno, DC, etc. for sign ideas. (Sorry I don't have any links at the moment.)
