I'm sorry, but that seems to be an over-reaction to me. And, as a school employee, despite the fact that I get a paid day off, I think that we are letting the sniper win by doing this...

Sort of like " what's a dead kid or two for the cause", aye?
Any one of these kids in school yours?

I'm walking across that parking lot, too. And I value my life just as highly as anyone. Perhaps you didn't read my whole post. And considering that my school has made national and local news recently (new 46 million dollar school, every kid issued a laptop, etc.), I'm thinking we make a mighty nice target (plus we are surrounded by woods...).

On the flip side, more people die every day in Va. from car accidents than to the sniper. Should we cancel schools because kids might get killed in a wreck on their way in? If the sniper made specific threats against schools (something we haven't heard about that only the police know), then by all means close them! But, simply closing them because he's in the area...

BTW, what happens Tuesday? If we don't catch him tomorrow, do we keep the schools out indefinately? How long do we keep them closed?
