"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin, Pennsylvania Assembly, Nov. 11, 1755

ESSENTIAL being the operative word. You have no essential right to not be inconvenienced in an emergency situation.

I do have an essential right to be left alone unless I have violated someone's essential rights through force or fraud. Dragging me out of a van at gun point, hand cuffing me, forcing me to lay ont he ground is not an "inconvenience" its a violation of my due process.

So every time someone is murdered in this country, some 25,000 times a year, it's an emergency situation requiring suspension of due process and civil liberties?

"Essential" also implies that freedom and liberty are a grant to each individual from the Creator and not to be allowed to be taken away lightly -- to do so can in circimstances amount to a dimunation of appreciation for God.
