I watched Powell answer that question after I read your reply. And you understated the way Colin Powell refuted the democrat's false allegation that they were kept in the dark about North Korea nukes. Powell was visibly angry, he said outright, "it is not true", then he went on to offer Russert a list of the congress critters who had been briefed.

Powell on ABC with Georgie S. Powell makes it clear it is North Korea who is nullifying the Clinton agreement from back in 94, not the US. Powell reminds Georgie this really is a multi-national issue.

Powell says North Korea has embargoed itself, no one wants to trade with them, but we are not yet talking about an official embargo on food.

Stored plutonium which could be turned into 2 or 3 nukes..it's being watched, we have to assume NK neighbors will have a stake in making sure it stays under their scrutiny, and isn't misused.

Powell says we have to assume NK has one or two nukes, made earlier. (during Clinton years, goes without saying).

I wish they would put that picture of Madeleine Albright drinking champagne with Kim L Song, chirping to the world how North Korea will abide by agreements. An expert on C-Span said this morning, as that photo was being shown that Albright was drinking champagne and singing along with little north Korean children at the same time.....and she didn't know it was an anti-American song the children were singing.

Powell tells Georgie Pakistan's Mushareff has assured him Pakistan has not given NK nukes. Powell says he takes him at his word, but he refuses to discuss whether or not they have done so in the past. Same thing he said on MTP.

Powell calls Congressman Chaka Fatah's accusations that the White HOuse has kept congress in the dark about North Korea, "ridiculous". Powell is really ticked off that democrats have tried to make this a partisan attack on his administration. If powell would always be this firm in his criticism of democrats, I might grow fonder of him.

The fact that Colin Powell is making the talk show rounds today shows how important the North Korea issue is, and/or how anxious he is to keep it out of partisan politics.
