Rights do not change. God did give us certain rights, and I think most people misinterpret them. Laws change according to the whims of the majority. I may have rights that the laws do not allow, but that doesn't take away my rights nor does it take away the rights of any human regardless of religion, political affiliation, or country of residence. Obviously they're open to individual interpretation, and therein lies the problem.

the rights and ideals of a society do depend on the majority of that society otherwise you are criminal or insane. Your rights are those personal beleifs in what is right, when you can share those beliefs and the majority agrees, even privately, then society adopts them, when you share an idea of what you think is right and the majority disagrees then it is wrong. When you share your belief in what you believe to be right and are punished for that, it is called supression. Countries don't "give up their rights" the people are put into a position of live this way or die. Civilizations have grown and collapsed under supressive governments. ie Roma, feudal Japan, China, etc.
