I heard FOX reporting that the weapon appears to be smaller than a .223 round. I was talking to someone on Thurs and we speculated that the 'quiet' period may be due to the LE response. I don't put any credence in the reports of the 'U-Turners', but at the same time I do believe that LE got close and maybe the shooter(s) got a little spooked. With the weapon type reports tonight I am further convinced the LE got closer than they know and perhaps the .223 had to be ditched. We may never see that ballistics match again.

WTOP said it was bigger than a .223. Earlier in this or another thread, I read it was a 7.62.
