Hanover County Shooting [Ashland, Virginia- North of Richmond]

Just reported. Took place outside of a Ponderosa Steakhouse. Not sure if it is related or not at this time. Police have shut down parts of I-95.

Apparently, rintense, there was confusion...I'm sure I heard John Gibson say this, kassie confirms to me she heard it to, but others didn't; Gibson has not repeated this, so it must have been misunderstanding.

As much as I hate to admit it CNN is doing a better job at this time 9:50 pm est.They have live coverage instead of John G shooting the breeze with the experts.This could very well be non-related they keep saying.

I more than apologize if I misspoke, but I'm positive I heard him say that.... It's ok .. alot of news was being reported and Gibson could have mistakenly said it and not realized it

The people who were killed by the sniper is bad enough but nobody LIKES to have surgery either. Took place in parking lot. per CNN. Now CNN is trying to downplay the shooting -might not be the sniper after all. Yeah, right.
A lull of five days. (days mean nothing to a killer - when he's ready, he strikes). Someone's bankrolling him or them. Maybe he worked the day shift today and had the evening off if he is even employed?

Your description of Hanover County, Virginia (post #13) is very good.
The total area has about about 1 million population w/suburbs. About 45 minutes south of the last shooting.
Hanover is rural (north and west end) and suburban (south and east). It's a large county.
This area is similar in makeup to the outer DC suburbs (Prince William, Manassas and Spottslyvania).
In the past 2 weeks, because of the sniper and the proximity to the nearest shooting, Richmond has been under the same precautions as Northern Virginia, (cancelled school activities, etc.)
Most of us don't get gas anywhere near the interstate.
A 60 year old man was shot once. Not fatal.
Parking lot of Ponderosa Restaurant.
Press conference now....
Victim was walking to his car from the restaurant.
Shot in the stomach from an unknown distance and an unknown direction.
Being treated as a sniper attact (pending other info).

Time to toughen up. Get the guns and start practicing. I want to get good enough to shoot the tires out from a fleeing perp.
Fat lot of good that would do in these shootings so far. NO ONE has ever seen the sniper. Do you propose that people simply open up on every vehicle in the vicinity when one of these shootings takes place?

After decades of being indoctrinated with messages like "wait for the professionals" and "don't get involved" the answer, sadly, is YES! The problem with that is that the "professionals" exerptise is not in preventing crime, but enforcing the laws.
Interestingly enough I DIDN'T get scolded for intervening in that incident.
It's all about creating two classes of citizens: the ruling elites and their guards; and the peasants.
