WANTED: a few good men - from the New York City Police Department.

Why? There have been no sniper killings in New York.

Right?

Well, at least this Moose-in-the-media's-headlights has been somewhat enlightening in other ways. For once, the entire nation can see the direct consequences of Affirmative Action, to browns, blacks, yellows and whites.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the Moose is not in charge of this investigation. He may be the guy they trot out to the press, but he sure is not directing how the resources are being used.

And Bo Tweedledee knows this. He is just part of the misdirection being used on the media. Now we have a press story about" the lieing witness being no big deal, why are we talking about it?"

Why is the media so trained on what we don't know, what is not happening, what was not seen, what has not happened????The important questions are not being addressed, and the silly un-important stuff is front page news. Sheeeeeeesh.

This investigation seems to be going nowhere. And the answer seems to be: "Throw more cops at the problem." Now 750 FBI agents should be very helpful, but we have no idea how they are deployed.

I'm probably going to get flamed here for posting such a radical idea... But here is a case where legalized concealed-carry could potentially do a lot of good. If I were the MD governor, I would ask the concealed-carry permit holders to carry their handgun on their person at all times. (No rifles, though... since they would probably be mistaken for the sniper(s).)

Specific instructions could be given. For example: "If you see someone who looks like the sniper with a rifle, fire some shots into the air to warn off any potential victims. (And, if anyone hears shots fired, hit the dirt.) If the suspected sniper tries to flee, try to take out his tires. If he turns his rifle on you, defend yourself."

Sound like things will turn into the wild-wild-west? :-) I actually doubt it would. I have confidence that gun owners, with straightforward instructions from police officials, could actually lead to this sniper's arrest/death. It solves the #1 problem facing this investigation: "Police simply can't be everywhere."

Moose doesn't like this kind of "tunnel vision" . You know, that narrow focus on questions like "who is the sniper?".

"They are probably good men and women, but this is amateur-hour time," said retired veteran cop Bo Dietl.

Coming from no less an expert than "Bo Dietl" ... the name ought to tell you all you need to know about this guy. "Bo Dietl" spends most of his time sucking up to Imus ... kissing butt seems to be his strongest virtue in recent years. He's a publicity hound ... nothing more.
