I'd like to think that the 'mainstream' media is helping to hasten its own eventual demise. Maybe I'm in a very small minority, but I have given up watching most TV, including news channels. I get enough news off the internet, including this web site. And from the radio.

I've whittled my TV viewing down to one hour a week, Meet the Press. And, at that I miss three out of every four episodes. Sometimes, I almost imagine the invasion of the body snatchers is underway or something like that old TV movie where reptilian aliens hovering in motherships were wearing human skins. The lack of human emotion in the likes of Dan Rathers and Senator John F. Kerry are strikingly reptilian. Oh, and Senator Ted Kennedy does a good Jabber-the-Hut impersonation; or maybe he really is the fat alien.
