IMHO, the fundamental underlying problem that promotes liberalism is the widespread and self-evident (but wrong) belief that human hardship is inherently bad, and society should try to eliminate it.

Traditional Christian wisdom declares that man is of incalculable value ontologically, because he is made in Gods image and destined for the divine marriage, but at the same time of great blame morally because he is an incorrigible sinner. Liberals simply reverse this. Why? Why do liberals think man is so good morally but not so good ontologically? Because the traditional view that man is a sin-defaced masterpiece instead of an innocent ape makes sin doubly awful and repentance doubly necessary. ...And to think that adults today force this powerful sex stuff on the children! Great read. Thanks for the post. (^:
More deep thinking: Liking yourself is good - right? Importance of self-esteem an idea whose time has past.

Liberals just want to feel good! It makes them feel good to say :There ought[ought!]to be a law....
This makes them feel as if the problem has been solved and the world is a better place.
Of course the logic that the govt. is the worse solution to a problem never enters their little right brain.

What rankles the liberal? Almost every major issue dividing the Church today between the orthodox and the liberals is about sexual morality: abortion, contraception, homosexuality, divorce, feminism, inclusive language, priestesses. The liberal drive is always to break some link in the iron chain that binds our sexual activity to our God.Very good article!

Well, I liked this article. I was thinking just the other day that liberals want to have simple things be complex, and complex things be simple. I don't know if that's a mental disorder per se, but it definitely is a mental weakness.

I like it.
I would love to know what drives liberals.
Crotch-logic might be close, at least an element.
My experience up to now, suggested half-thought out ideas.
Can't lose my experience and both ideas can be melded.
Their are some people that rarely think about sex yet still liberal.
SOoo, somebody that stops short of completely resolved logic and probably a hedonist besides. That will do for now.

The way I see it liberals and other big government types( including puritanical social "conservatives" and Buchanites) fall into 3 categories
1. "Illogical & Often( but not always) stupid" most soccer mom liberals fall into this category they vote on what they feel and not what they think and are predisposed to be compassionate with other peoples money
2. "Government crackwhores" those who seek or are already addicted to government money or some other special privelidge from the government
3. "The truely evil" self explanatory this group is very small but they pull all the strings (btw most Dem politicians are category #1 or possibly #2 if they like the salary and perks but don't get off on power) Hilary Clinton is a number 3 so was Woodrow Wilson and probably believe it or not Jimmy Carter.

The more you search for a truly moderate liberal, the more you realize that maybe one in 10,000 liberals is that way. On the Right, we've always been far more willing to compromise and take the road that makes everybody feel comfortable. But today's Left is only comfortable when everybody else is at their beck and call. They are totalitarians to the core, ugly and vicious.
But most of all, they hate America because America constantly proves their Marxist theories to be wrong, a failure, a flop. In spite of the left's efforts, the fact that if you're willing to work hard in this country you'll get along - indeed, you may even do very well - is alive and kicking and that infuriates them because it throws their theory that only the government can help you into the garbage can. And so they have to invent victims, convince people that they are victims of this, that, and the other.
I wish I could put it as eloquently as many here could. But it's been a long week, I'm tired and not very inspired.

have youall ever noticed, how a majority of women are liberals and a majority of men are conservative?
very roughly in the poles - 60% men conservative; 40 women - conservative; and then 20% undecided
note - the 20% undecided does not refer to what their sex is (those are liberals).
Now I understand why I don't understand women or liberals.
In fact, watching All Bull and Crap's 'This week', this morning, I watched 2 liberal women, totally ignore George Will's very logical comments and arguments, as if he had never spoken.
It must be very hard for him, to be the only one on that show with a brain that functions properly.

What liberals don't understand is the difference between equipping people to overcome hardship (example: tough academic curriculum in the schools) and pretending hardship doesn't exist (giving away "A's" for nothing in the schools).

The 19th amendment should be repealed. Why?
What effects on society do you believe that repealing the 19th amendment would have?
