Sigh...it has been true for decades that only 1/2 of those who call themselves Christians actually register to vote. And then, only 1/2 of those actually vote. If we registered and actually cast votes on election day, Nov. 2002 would not have even been close.
If only Christians understood and took seriously their civic duty and privilege.

Same here... this is bogus. Plenty of us "religious nuts" are ready to throw Davis out the door.

You are old enough to pray, and pray hard that His people are voted in.

The religious right staying home, Jerry Falwell alienating moderate/independent/undecided voters, RINO bashing, the politicizing of abortion, stars and bars, etc = GOP Death Wish.

...has tried to remain relevant in the era of international terrorism by embracing Israel and demonizing Muslims. Geeze! Sounds like a Pakistani newspaper! This was not in the editorial section?

Most agree with Falwell. He's right on. There are no Christian complaints.
I don't know where this author got his facts. He doesn't say. It appears to be just the opposite of what he's saying. Maybe he's just wishing or something..

IN your opinion, what topics shuold be "politicized," and which should not?

Frankly, what I see out in the real world---where there are real voters---is that it is the Dems who are without motivation.
I have never seen the RATS so cowed and subdued.
Democrats in WV are coming over to vote for Jay Wolfe in droves....and there is no evidence of much of a ground game by Rockefeller out there at all.

This is not good. We need to get the Christian voters to the polls! Yes, and after election they, together with the Democrats, will pass the anti-Christian legislation like this one (singling out opponents of abortion):
Also floundering is a major bill to make it harder for people to discharge their debts by declaring bankruptcy.
A House-Senate compromise was reached in July, but House GOP leaders have been reluctant to bring it to a vote because of an abortion-related provision opposed by many conservative activists. The provision is designed to prevent people who attack or block access to abortion clinics from avoiding court-ordered fines by declaring bankruptcy.
The bill may pass during a lame-duck session, but Republican leadership aides say it will not be brought up before the elections.

Abortion protesters after liberal courts bring them to the financial ruin will be kept down to the end of their lives.

On exactly what evidence does he make this grand assumption? He just states it like he's some kind of authority.
If he's just your average journalist, he's as likely as not to be as dumb as the chair I'm sitting in, so he'll have to pardon me if I don't take his word at face value.

You have two chioces. . . stay home and let the Democrats win GUARANTEEING that that legislation (and more like it) comes up and passes, or getting out, voting, and putting some Republicans in office to SET THE AGENDA in the Senate. The only reason that legislation is coming up is because the Dems set the agenda. If the GOP had control, the Dems could come up with as many anti-christian bills as they like, but (like from 1994-2001) the GOP will NEVER let them get to the floor. So, get out and VOTE!

Any chance this will motivate the Christian Right and demotivate the left of center?

As a religous voter I can see how some of us would not vote.
The trajectory of our country can seem hopeless.
I'll vote, however.

The only reason that legislation is coming up is because the Dems set the agenda. I don't know. Last time Massachusetts Republicans (Weld/Cellucci) were voted into governor office they established state funded promotion of pederasty in the public schools. (Democrat Silber would be much better).
I wonder if Republican and Democratic elites do not share the same decadent mindset and subculture (with some honorable exceptions).

This is baloney.
Christians KNOW what is at stake this election.
If we stay home, we deserve what is coming.
We won't. We will vote. Hard.
We will demagogue the prickish democrats and squeeze them till the buggers eyes pop out.
with vigor and much joy...
dems know it, that is why they are crapping their shorts.

Hi EV do you have the email address for the RNC?
An article in last nites local paper, by reporter, Rebecca Cook, Incumbents carry fund raising edge.
It states that the democrat has six times the money in the bank then the republican, Norma Smith, candiate for district 2, Washington State.
"The Republican Party has pulled the plug on Norma" says Paul Berendt, Democratic Party Chair"
Norma has not recieved one dime from the RNC and I am so angry!
Emailed the State Republican chair and he emailed back, that he is angry also.
Do only candiates that are news worthy recieve money from the RNC?
I need the email address and hope every one that reads this, emails them also. Jay Wolfe has not recieved any funds from them either, as you know.
It is statements like the one above, that make people not vote, they figure if the RNC will not support them with funds why bother voting.
Thanks
