Oops, that came out wrong....
GO BENGALS!! We're with ya, guys. (drink that beer, drink that beer, drink that beer.....fumble!!)
sort of a "tobacco companies" made me do it argument, but we can blame pro teams for promoting youth league and using peer pressure to addict all the youngsters.
I understand from the legal team that they'll do it for a mere pittance (96%). (The rest of us get a Topps Football Card signed by Johnny Cochran)
Well, that's part of the problem with this team....they're reflexes aren't that good. And if it's a long walk, they're not in the greatest of shape.
They demandedextorted tax money for a stadium and then put up a bad team? I think the Bengals have some blame and I don't like the idea of taxpayer funded stadiums.
Fumble the ball, not the beer. A good beer is a terrible thing to waste.
Yes there is, but the political hacks would prefer the peons not know about it. Starting in late 1996, the County Govt. blackmailed (Mike Brown was going to take his Bungles somewhere else0 the local sports addicted sheep to raise the sales tax to build these two new sports stadiums to help revitalize that socialist cesspool called Cincinnati. In fact, the City of Cincinnati had been paying Mike Brown $2 million a year to stay (until they could find a way to extort the taxpayers to build one for him). This money was absconded from the sinking fund in place to repair the old stadium. That is why the old stadium was in such repair.
Also, the city of Cincinnati couldn't wait to get a taxed passed for the new stadiums sold the old stadium could be reverted back to Hamilton County (actuall owner) in hopes that the public would never question the missing $15 million.
Of course Marge Schott (prior owner) of the Cincinnati Reds found out about the 2 million a year (dating back to the early 1990s) and wanted her cut. Under the table, the City allowed Marge Schott not to pay rent (about $2 mil a year)to keep her quiet. She did not escrow anything; and the City refused to do their fiduciary duty and collect the rent; it was a corrupt arrangement.
Anyhow, after they shoved the tax up our a$$es; myself and a couple of friends were having a couple of shooters at our favorite watering hole and decided to sue the Cincinnati Reds and the City of Cincinnati for the back rent (taxpayers class action). We hit em hard and were within hours of shutting down opening day in 1996. We will be lucky if we get squat for our efforts but it was the right thing to do. Cincinnati Reds have appealed but it is black and white and we should not prevail. (judicial corruption notwithstanding). Anyway, back to the original point. The new stadiums tax was passed, and under the agreements with Hamilton County for use of the new football stadium, Mike Brown was supposed to come up with $20 million for construction. He came up with the 20 million, but the County allowed him to do so by selling private seat licenses; so in reality he had little, if any out of pocket. This is the way to sue Mike Brown and the corrupt political whores in County Govt. at the same time. In closing, there are several things to remember when the local governments extort taxpayers for new sports stadiums. First there are going to be cost overruns.
2nd, there is always corrupton as friends and family and protected minorities get special jobs and contracts.
And 3rd; forcing all taxpayers to fund a public sports stadium is morally wrong. Most sports fans are the type of people that detest welfare for bums, but what is a tax for sports stadiums, but welfare for sports addicts.
Its not like roads or infrastructure; it is not essential to the welfare of the city. Pro sports teams should build their own stadiums; it should be a private business enterprise. Why should I be forced to pay for someone else bread and circus?

Most of the time it looks like the Bengal players have not ever played the game in their entire lives!!
