Panto ..... Pantomine?? Makes sense in a 'panto cats' buit not in the context of the sentence. I dunno....

Panto is indeed short for Pantomime, and the cast refers to the actors in it. A Pantomime is a children's show put on in theaters around Christmas-time and includes nursery-rhyme characters and simple-minded plots (like the bullwinkle et al TV cartoons).

There another 200 posts after this one (#37) so its probably been explained - but in case not here's my take on his allusion.

I think he's saying there's a character stage front with the audience warning her that the villain is sneaking up from behind but the character refuses to heed the audience.
