"What about the Freeport mines!" The Freeport mines are in a remote area of Irian Jaya, the western half of New Guinea, and the Javanese shouldn't be there to begin with. The Irian Jayans are melanasians, and primarily animists, and/or Christian (very heavy missionary presence in the back country). In my time in Jayapura, I don't even recall hearing or seeing Mosques, though I assume they are there.
