Conservatives who relegate abortion to the sidelines, in favor of "serious" matters like foreign policy or tax policy, are the type who frequently say that Carter is a "decent" man. What these people refuse to do is draw conclusions about character from a person's position on abortion. But a pro-abortion person--whether "liberal" or "conservative"--is intellectually dishonest and morally corrupt. If people voted pro-life, eliminating from consideration ANYONE of EITHER party who is pro-abortion, a huge mob of corrupt, big-spending, treasonous, violent people, in both parties, would be instantly eliminated from public life. As a way to rid politics of liars and killers and thieves, abortion is the most reliable, and least-used, litmus test available to voters.
