True... but that gives no comfort to the residents there. Their lives are impacted and disrupted in spite of their fear being statistically unreasonable. Moreover the regional economy has been impacted. These are the results Arab-backed terrorism seeks.

Since October 2nd, an unknown sniper or snipers, utilizing an apparent assault rifle,
No, it was just her general inability to write. She should have written, "Since October 2nd, an unknown sniper or snipers, apparently using an assault rifle...."

They'd have to be REALLY, really, REALLY, super-stupid to continue using the white van for their operations in the midst of the massive publicity surrounding it. Hopefully they are that stupid.

...a number of articles in playboy and Maxim alleging links between the NAZI movement and the moslem undergrounds.....I wouldn't be surprised by that at all. A lot of these groups are coalescing to attack us, because they don't have the military might, but they can chip away at us.
I read somewhere yesterday (I think it was written by an Indian expert on this) that at least in the Far East and Middle East so far, Moslems have been infiltrating animal rights groups.
It'll happen here one day too, if it hasn't already.

The white van(s) is/are a decoy. Purely meant to divert attention away from the vehicle from which the sniper operates. If the white van is caught no weapons or evidence linking it to the sniper will be found.

I'm sure that's true! Just reporting what FNC had going there.
To: mvpel
However, I believe the white van is linked to the crime in that it works in tandem w/ the snipers vehicle to draw attention away from the sniper.

[snip]" I'm inclined to believe that radical Islamists are behind the "sniper attacks" in the DC area"
The last time I was in the DC area I think it was in Maryland and I stayed at a Motel and had no car. The motel had a listing of restaurants in the area by specialty; like steaks, fish or Chinese.
The largest single type of restaurant specialized in goat. As I walked the streets in the area I marveled that I could be in Baghdad and not know it. The only place more Arab then DC is Detroit. (I live in CA and Mid-Easterners aren't new to me.)
I suspect that it is like looking for a needle in a haystack to find a Middle Eastern type there. Besides that idiot police chief is probably too stupid to do much good anyway.

For these guys getting caught is not necessarily bad in their view. . .remember 70 virgins, etc.

I could be wrong, but I'm inclined to believe that radical Islamists are behind the "sniper attacks" in the DC area, rather than some "lone wolf" nut-job. My guess is it's both. I think it will turn out to be a Muslim who sympathizes with the Islamo-fascists but is not a part of Al Qaeda and is acting on his own, like the Egyptian guy who shot up the El Al counter last July 4th.

I don't think I buy this. A standard operating procedure for targeted assassinations rather than the random selection of victims is to hit the most difficult marks first; if you have a group of shooters you have them strike simultaneously at diverse targets. You do not gradually build up from cab drivers to senators. That is a sure way to put your enemy on the alert and undercut your ultimate objective.
If these guys were that well organized with hostile agenda against the US govt, they would have hit someone "important" in the political or public sphere first. While I do not discount the possibility of terrorists (or that terrorizing is this guys goal), everything from the MO to the few clues that have been found points to a madman. They could be red herrings...but terrorism is rarely perpetrated without a boast or PR announcement from the source afterwars.

I think the perps will be most worried about being charged with a hate crime and the black mark that would cast on Islam. /sarcasm

Considering the location of the attacks, I think the odds are pretty good that some federal employees would be among the victims. Perhaps, but then again, the shooter changed his MO to make this particular kill!

Why Washington, D.C.? - Terrorists.
Why conflicting descriptions of sniper? - Terrorist Cell.
Why now? Bali, French ship, Iraqi statement to Muslims.

"PR announcement from the source afterwars."
OK, I'm a conspiracy nut. The media types know and are silent!
If they contacted an ABC or MSNBC maybe the lefties in the media think that releasing that information would do self-esteem damage to some minority group?

OK Tinfoil.
Authorities acknowledge the sniper took more risks with this hit. Could this lady have been a prime target all along and last night was one time when it was relatively easy to take a shot at her. Otherwise why run the risks of a mall area when a simpler shot like the others would have caused the same terror.
Just the fact that she is a cyber terror analyst; and her identity was discovered by jihadis.
There's been a lot going on in the cyberwaronterror lately.
To: 1bigdictator
I'm with you, these Jihadis are just getting warmed up, it's going to get much, much worse unless we send a strong message to a few Arab countries.
