I thought the rounds were .223?

Well, that's what the police are reporting. They have said that the .223 FMJ is the very "signature" round of these disparate events. If the police reports are correct, and given that you attest your firearm cannot chamber this round, then I guess that means we can eliminate the AK-47 as the "culprit" weapon.

He's been practicing for some time.

Therefore we have a witness report from one witness. Maybe it even actually happened. The point is, law enforcement types constantly tell us that witness reports are not 100 percent when it comes to accuracy or objectivity.

I merely point out this fact for the sake of reasonable argument, going forward.

One man?

try 10, or 20, or how ever many raghead cells are clandestinely operating in the continental United States.

Our non-existent border and traitorous political class have exposed 300 million American citizens to the ultimate terror-on-the-cheap. Compound this "team" and factor it by 100 and you've got terror on a scale that can quickly bring martial law upon us all.

I'm not waiting for teams 2,3,4,5 and upwards to begin their operations. I'm operating as if this is a war zone and we're all combatants.

And screw the Leftist pukes who dare to impede my attempts at self-preservation.

I saw that too on Fox. Why does the board think Fox is being so PC?

How about they're reporting what witnesses have seen, and there's more than one shooter?

"There are civilian versions of the AK-74 available in Europe that ARE chambered in .223,as well as in 7.62x39. I have no idea if they are available in the US or not."

The Romanian SAR-3 is a .223 version of the AK-74. Century Arms imported many of these rifles into the U.S. Of course some U.S. parts were added to comply with the new "assault weapon" laws.

That's what they should have pointed out when they were in front of the cameras. They should have said something akin to that. It also works to make those that might be tempted to fly off the handle and resort to some criminal action realize they live in a fine country.

Why is it that we can realize that - yet those with so-called "advanced degrees" (such as Dr. Moose) can't?

"all we "officially" know"

What I know is that I spoke to a few thousand people this summer and I know how the media has effected their thoughts on the NRA. I also know the media played this for all the propaganda they could milk it for. Besides Bush, no public officials I've noticed involved in this matter put in a good word for well behaved Americans. They hinted they were potential threats instead and need closer watching. The facts are otherwise, they know it and they refused to speak up, regardless of who perpetrated these heinous acts of killing.

We must not devote any more resources to homeland defense than is absolutely necessary and give the Iraqis the time they need to build their bomb. That's where the Second Amendment comes in.

Someone on Fox tonight said we can shoot and chew gum at the same time.

"we COULD have hoards of democratic house members decrying the need for more 'gun control on every other sound bite coming out of Washington! "

There is an election in a few weeks. They've been quietly working at this for some time. After the election is when we'll hear them speak up.

Sounds like an AK101. If the shooter used iron sites he's had some practice.

Yes. You are the first one to state what this weapon probably is. The Romanian made, Century Arms,Inc. imported SAR-2 (AKA-AK-74 in 5.45MM) or SAR-3 (5.56MM). Tenn Guns sold them for awhile, as did AIM Surplus. I paid $225 for mine. Trigger group sucked, but still quite accurate. Compact. Although technically not an AK-74, it's close enough for one to ID it as such.

"He's been practicing for some time."

What I meant is that from my own observation of this event, the killer has put a lot of time into learning how to conduct this kind of operation. It stuck out like a sore thumb when he made his thrust on the morning of Oct. 3 and it continued after that.

But how good is it as a sniping weapon?

Maybe he likes the option of having full-auto available if he needs it.

Excellent observation. No need to worry about backup when you are holding it ...

would they be able to tell from ballistics that it came from this gun, which, in turn would add credibility to the witness account?

Max effective range isn't the same as actual effective range.

The M16 and M16A1 claimed effective range of 460 meters - they managed about 300 in typical troops. The M16A2 and M16A3 claimed 600m, and manage 450 or so.

The AK47 claimed an effective range of 230, and managed about 150, the AK74 claims 500, and manages 300.

The guys who actually shoot these things don't shoot as well as the guys who do the measuring.

"Trigger group sucked, but still quite accurate"

Can't blame the Romanians for that. Trigger group is a U.S. made part.

Long after this perp is caught? It'll be a dead issue by that point ... the time to strike is while the iron is HOT baby!
