Sounds like a BIG step towards gun confiscation....

Imagine if this precedent was followed around the nation, the next logical step would be, "well, since you can't legally shoot your guns, you don't need them anymore do you?".

You can always count on the knee-jerk reaction in the US nowadays....sheesh!

Well, he says he's banning the discharge of RECREATIONAL shooting. No statement was issued or implied that you couldn't shoot in self defense. I am against this as a hunter, but these are extrordinary times.

Good thing cursing is protected under the First Amendment, eh? Wonder if ol' Parris stamped his foot as he made his proclamation. "No more gunfire, and I mean it!"

Or he could outlaw sin, or taking bribes, or cheating on your wife, or taking your honey on government trips, or trying to chisel on your pension, or trying to use influence to get your appointees to name you to a cushy job.

Oh yeah, this is Glenspending, he can't do that.

So typical of the Democrat political antics. So much smoke and mirrors.

I don't think anyone who shoots the sniper or uses a firearm for self-defense need be concerned about being prosecuted for disobeying the order. Some of the responses on this thread are silly, bordering on ridiculous.

Glendening has also banned hunting. Some people -- myself included -- would consider that silly, bordering on ridiculous.

And quite possibly illegal.

I just hope that the Gov. makes sniping and shooting people illegal too. That is what it will take to kill these Islamic madmen.

I think it's a good move. Hopefully, an arrest will be made soon and this order can be vacated. If it's hunting season, how on earth are the authorities going to be able to keep up with the reports of gunshots? I would think people in this area would welcome this for the sake of their own nerves.

What! Now I can't set up the blind in the parking lot of the Home Depot? Yeah all those hunters cruising the interstate shooting at deer. Think of the confusion! {/sarcasm}

They may not have to, if the Maryland Constitution includes some parallel to the federal Second Amendment, as many state constitutions do.

According to the NRA's ILA website: No, Maryland has no RKBA provision in its state constitution.

Starting tomorrow? That sounds like the old sermon, "One More Night with the Frogs," about Pharoah's reply to Moses in the midst of the Plague of the Frogs. Pharoah asked Moses to get rid of the frogs and Moses asked him when he wanted him to do that. Pharoah said, "Tomorrow." So, he was asking for one more night with the frogs.

Good preaching.

I'm sure you're right, this is probably just a way to screw over the hunters, who have been totally shut down. This is a liberal wet dream.

Ha ha. Do you think for a minute that people won't hear hunters shooting weapons and freak right straight out?

I meant to say "stop" these Islamic madmen. Is it illegal to use the word "kill" in Maryland these days? If so, come and get me, I'll give up...
