But wasn't he tried under Oklahoma law? The case was in Denver because of change of venue. I'm asking, because I don't know the answer. But I think it was the State of Oklahoma against Timothy McVeigh.

No, McVeigh was executed by the feds, under the federal death penalty. Tried in federal district court in Denver. Federal District Court Judge Matsch.

No I am quite sure he was tried under Federal courts. It's a big issue, because Terry Nichols did not get the death penalty and the Okies want him bad.
