FYI re: the parking garage.
It's technically a parking garage, but I am told by a friend
who drove down to 'check out' the scene, that the garage
roof is about 30 or 40 feet high. Thus not as much protection
as one would suspect.

Sounds like more of a parking "deck" - pretty much as you find at many suburban malls. My question is whether or not the deck was open out toward US 50.
