Posse Comitatus applies to the ACTIVE DUTY military only. National Guard and the Coast Guard are exempt. In addition, the active duty military can participate in survellence, training, equipment. The only thing they can not do is arrest the perp. I'm assuming they can not shoot him either, but that would be a call the trooper has to make.

My husband takes a .223 Thompson Contender with him when he hunts turkey. It's a relatively long pistol, but he can easily conceal it in a holster under a jacket.

LOL. That about covers it. (excuse the pun) Seems to be all the news for now, except for that about the warts and duct tape, which is pretty amazing in itself.:) I don't know what the overall crime rate is in that area, but I am willing to bet it will be going way down, in general. :)

hmm...I would think that these 10 should be ruled out after last night, unless they followed one to the Home Depot... huh?

I think it's a group; I think LEO knows this, and I think that everyone in the group has an airtight alibi for at least one of the shootings. I have been thinking at least three, but now I'm not sure. there could be a couple of shooters and several more doing planning, surveillance, and decoying, not to mention a network of homes and places to hide the van.

I had an eerie sense of the gravity of the situation last night as I watched them shut down the entire Beltway. Everyone trapped in their cars, law enforcement all gathered in that same area - imagine some sort of WMD being released in that situation. This is serious business what's going on here.

"Dear policeman" doesn't sound directed at Moose in particular.

I think that it was Moose who was the spokesman when the remarks about the schools being safer were made. The school shooting and Tarot were a response to those remarks. And, we don't know who the note accompanying the Tarot card was addressed to, but I'm betting it was to Moose. Either directly or indirectly. He was the most prominent "Mister Policeman" at the time.

Let's hope. The pentagon was hit once and we know the Whitehouse was a target and with all of this is going on in that area it makes you wonder what's really going on when Defense gets involved.

It's not physically impossible, and a single shooter has advantages of economy -- no weak links. But I doubt it. The first week could have happened with a bit of ordinary luck, but the last week would have required extraordinary planning and luck. Somebody, I think, is running interference.

I'm beginning to suspect that last night's eyewitness might have seen a deliberate decoy.
