I mentioned earlier my ancestors in the Civil War who were in state militias. Even my 3rd great grandfather who was in his 60s at the time was part of a militia that was too old to serve in the regular army, but he was part of a group that was assigned to guard over the bridges and other vital structures in his state. Our govt needs to be thinking along those lines.
You do know I was agreeing and realized (or thought I did) that the last part was venting. I totally know how you feel.
As for whether or not we would put up with it, I just don't know. I see us accepting a lot of things that we should not. It worries me that before we wake up to the realities, it might be too late.
The problem is, at least to me, we are beset by so many dangers here. As far as defense, the ME threat is the worst, but we just have no idea how many are here, how many are coming in each day, how many weapons they have (and what kind).
The police seem to be doing all they can in this situation, but just think if cells in each state started this, we could be paralyzed. Of course, just speculating, the killer may not even be ME. But what it should teach all of us, including and especially our leaders, is just what a few people could do to this country. When will we wake up.
A friend of my daugher teaches the gun classes for Texas - I think it is time to sign up.
