If the EU won't let them in, maybe we can come up with something else. Starting in a couple of months, how about a free-trade zone incorporating the countries-formerly-known-as-Iraq, the soon-to-be-democratic-Iran, the turkic Central Asian Republics, and free-Afghanistan, with US backup.

Or something along those lines. If the EU doesn't want them, they should build their own Central Asian community. Let the Euros beat a path to their door.
