Ma'am, actually. : )
but would you deny the citizen, whether the person be a plumber with a duly registered .243, a .270 or a 30.06 with a sighted scope (just as the shooter may have) or the citizen who is out of uniform the shot to end this bastardization of everyone's civil right to travel freely?
Nope. You misunderstand me. I have never said I'd deny anyone the right to keep and bear arms or to carry a concealed weapon. I said that I would not care to exercise that right myself, but that I was not at all uncomfortable with the 2nd amendment and carry-concealed permits.
My single issue here is just that: a tree in the forest. In the sniper killings, I doubt an armed citizenry will do much good. For all I care, everyone in the whole of northern VA, southern MD and DC can carry all the guns they want. That doesn't bother me in the least. I doubt it will help quell the sniper - and that was my point in my posts here.
I'm not concerned that the forest - the gun control issue at large - has prompted the sniper or other criminals. They operate outside the law, so laying more gun laws down is likely to be as ineffective for these sorts as making murder illegal.
