From what I've seen, quite frankly, I like him. I don't care if he has an education, yet is self deprecating. I entered and graduated college late because of the army. I prefer the life-experienced and educated rather than merely the educated.

The City of Los Angeles could do worse than Chief Moose, and has.

I met him once in Portland. He seemed like a level headed guy. I don't and never did read the Oregonian much so I cannot comment on his service here in Portland. I get most of my news here.
