The truck driver was in the parking lot of the hotel where he said it all happened. I dunno... you obviously know more about this than I do!:) Only question I would have to you is how would soldiers know where shots were coming from... unless of course they were going by whizzes over their heads?? (Not trying to be smart-alec... really wondering.) Truck driver didn't mention anything about hearing any whizz-noise over his head... or anything except the boom-noise. Why would it be really, really, really hard to detect direction?

The sound of a gunshot will bounce off a building and totally confuse anyone trying to figure the location of the shooter.

Even if it came from behind you it would be confusing. Any one who hunts can tell you this. It is a phenomenon of physics.
